Current Work: Living Origin
Living Origin is a collection of 76 hand-carved functional vessels rooted in artist Lauren Stichter’s Irish heritage and her upbringing in Philadelphia. The surfaces draw inspiration from the negative spaces of Irish stone walls and the intricate patterns of traditional lace and woven baskets—forms shaped by labor, repetition, and care. The vessels are displayed on a table salvaged from Temple University’s library in the 1980s and later passed down to Stichter from her father. This inherited structure becomes both literal and symbolic support, grounding the work in lineage and lived experience. Together, the forms reflect a deep commitment to craftsmanship and tradition, honoring the enduring connections between family, memory, making, and space.
